Christmas is fastly turning into a period of revenge on tech people the world over. If it plugs into a wall, we are all assumed to know every intricate detail of how something works, how to configure it and how to repair it when it does not do what we expect. In this season of tech gift giving, give your tech support person a break and learn to use the most wonderful tool in the world - Google.
If you have never used Google, it helps you find almost any answer to almost any question. It is a modern miracle. How do I get music from my iPod to another computer? How do I reset my iPod when it locks up? How do I get spyware off of my new computer? How do I ensure that I am protected from the latest virus threats? How do I stop these dreaded popup windows? How do I make a backup of my DVD? How do I configure a home wireless network? Of course, the natural fist step should have been any user documentation that came with your gift. If it is lacking or does not answer your questions, most manufacturers provide a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and support forums to get help with your new toy. Here are a few of the more common ones. Apple iPod LinkSys NetGear Sony PSP XBox 360 |
